In addition to our Ministry projects,meetings and programs, the attendees at First Southern Methodist Church, enjoy many other activities, among which are:

Twin Oaks Nursing Home Visitation - on the 5th Wednesday of a month, we gather at 10:00 a.m. to hold a singing and worship service with the residents who gather in the community room. Many of the residents join in singing the humns with us. At Christmas time, we distribute gufts to the residents.

5th Sunday Night Sing - at 5:00 p.m. in the evening on the 5th Sunday night of a month, we gather together to enjoy an hour of singing followed by light refreshments. The program may consist of professional groups invited for the evening or local church talent. The church youth may make a special presentation. And we always have congregational singing of requested humns.

Christmas Show at Myrtle Beach - around the beginning of December a group gets together and travels to Myrtle Beach for an evening (sometimes two!) of fellowship and attendance at one or two of the Christmas Shows for which Myrtle Beach is famous. We usually spend the night at one of the beach-front resorts and enjoy shopping on the following days at the many stores in Myrtle Beach. If we are staying over more than one night, we will all meet at one of the nice restaraunts for a delicious meal.

FALL COLORS RETREAT - held one weekend in October at Camp Three Forks Trail in the mountains of NC.

HOME COMING - annual celebration with guest minister and covered dish dinner held the third Sunday in October to "kick-off" Revival.

REVIVAL - held 2-3 evenings in October (following Home Coming). Guest minister.

MISSION WEEK - annual program extending 3-5 days in which we have various activities to expand our knowledge and understanding of the various ministries of the Southern Methodist Church. Guest speakers may be several of the foreign missionaries who are on home leave, denominational leaders, or others. Time various depending upon the program.

EASTERN CONFERENCE SEMINARS - weekend seminars on various subjects held at various times at Camp Summers and Manget.

ANNUAL CONFERENCE - annual meeting of all the churches in the Eastern Conference. Location rotates among the various churches.

VARIOUS other social and religious events are observed throughout the year. Many include a covered dish dinner.
